About Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a popular modern martial art renowned for its swift, high and powerful kicks.

Hwa Chong Taekwondo is a place to learn and excel in Taekwondo, and nurture values of discipline and self-confidence. The 5 Taekwondo tenets - courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self-control and indomitable spirit - are incorporated in all areas of our training, serving as timely reminders to uphold exemplary attitudes.

We begin CCA with a bow to our teachers and coach as a form of respect and appreciation, then kick-start training with warm-ups and stretching. Training includes two main components: Poomsae, a defined pattern of defence-and-attack motions, and Kyorugi - sparring in Korean.

The day ends with another bow and cheer to wrap up training.

At HCTKD, there are many opportunities to shine and foster bonds with our peers. Apart from annual national competitions, we participate in various school performances too.

As a relatively large CCA, HCTKD is one big family. It is a common ground where hardships and challenges are overcome, and lifetime memories and friendships are forged.
