Humanities and Current Affairs Society (HACAS)

About HACAS

Do you…

Want to ignite a passion for the humanities?

Want a chill community to talk and have fun with regarding your favourite topics?

Enjoy talking about and sharing your passion for the humanities?

Seek to expand your horizons and learn more about topics you may not be familiar with?

Participate in quizzes and competitions?

Well… the Humanities and Current Affairs Society (HACAS) is perfect for you! It is a wholly student-led CCA, for the students, by the students. We organise a range of exciting activities, while simultaneously increasing our members’ knowledge and cultivating their passion for the humanities. Our myriad of activities include fieldwork sessions around Singapore, quizzes, strategy games, dialogue sessions with distinguished academics, to external and self-organised field trips.

These activities are jointly planned and organised by the four wings — History, Current Affairs, Model United Nations (MUN) and Geography, with combined sessions amongst all wings once a week! Not to mention, members even have the chance to participate in various prestigious and intellectually stimulating competitions such as MUNs (eg. Harvard WorldMUN, THIMUN Hague, Singapore Model United Nations), Chancellor’s Challenge Shield (Current Affairs), International History Bee and Bowl, International History Olympiad (History) and International Geography Bee (Geography).

Apart from competitions, HACAS also focuses on empowering its members. Members will have various leadership opportunities in planning for and directing our landmark interdisciplinary events, which are attended by participants from various schools in Singapore. They will also take on organising roles in the annual Hwa Chong Conflict Resolution Inquiry (HCCRI), a premier MUN conference in Singapore.

If you have a budding love for the humanities and a strong passion for the community, do join us!
